Please join us for a screening and discussion of\u00a0The Gospel Circle of Vassily Polenov<\/em>\u00a0at The Courtauld Institute of Art.<\/div>\n

The film, which focuses on the Russian painter\u00a0Vassily Polenov and his trips to the Middle East in the late nineteenth century,\u00a0is directed by Elena Yakovich, with the script co-authored by the writer Alexander Ilichevsky, and produced by the artist’s great-granddaughter, Natalya Polenova, founder of the Vassily Polenov Association.<\/p>\n

The film will be introduced by Professor John E. Bowlt (University of Southern California), who will be giving the Slade Lectures at the University of Cambridge this autumn.\u00a0After the screening there will be a round-table discussion\u00a0with Elena Yakovich, Alexander Ilichevsky,\u00a0Yury Kublanovskiy,\u00a0and\u00a0Natalya Polenova, followed by a wine reception.<\/p>\n

Entrance is free but advance booking via The Courtauld Institute website (N.B. booking is not yet open) will be essential.
